Society and the Single Girl: The Best Dating Advice I've Ever Received

Dating is the single most confusing thing in the world. There are so many confusions and questions about what to do, what to wear, how to act and additionally, how to know if someone is actually really into you. This can cause anxiety, especially to those who may not have the most experience when it comes to the dating department. (Ahem, myself)
To counter this confusion, I began to seek the advice from friends, my beloved pastor friend who has never steered me wrong whenever I needed advice and my therapist when it came to approaching the dating world. The number one piece of advice, perhaps the best advice I have ever received, is be yourself.
And, today, I am sharing that with you all.
In the dating world, we present ourselves in the most prim and proper format possible. However, we are not meeting the Queen of England, rather we are meeting someone who could possibly be our potential partner. I think that while we should avoid acting like a cave person on a first date, we should just be ourselves, in all our flawed glory. In the confusion of going on a date, we often forget how wonderful we truly are, and that when someone doesn't like who we are, it's not our loss, but their own. And, if they like you for who you truly are? Well, that makes it all the more awesome.
So, for those who are new to the dating world, those returning to it after some time, the best advice I can give you, despite the cliche aspect is to be yourself and (try not to) don't worry about everything that follows.

How To "Woo" Me

Ladies, gentlemen and non-binary people, we have contemplated many times about whether or not chivalry may or may not be dead. It's a well disputed fact that many are wondering if the age of wooing is far behind us. However, I think that it shouldn't be. Therefore, I on occasion wish that it in fact wish that I lived my life in a romantic comedy. Even though it's not actually reality, a girl can dream right? So gentleman who want to find their way into my heart (you know, there is a long line for that) here's how to get there.
Bring me pita chips and guac. Guacamole has quickly warmed its way into my heart, thanks to my friend's mother who has introduced me to it. Now, I can't live with out it, and often put it on things such as pita chips, and even in quesadilas, which is one of my favorite foods. Therefore, I can't resist this being one of my things where if you took the time to go to get me some, I'd give you some serious street cred.
Lockets, Keys, and Anything shiny with a heart. Diamonds are a gal's best friend right? Marilyn said it best. I think any sort of jewelry is a good way to prove your love for someone. Materialistic, kinda sorta maybe. But hear me out before ya judge. I think that jewelry is a thoughtful gift, because I believe that jewelry is something that does come from straight from the heart. Therefore, by giving it to someone, you're giving them a piece that you can wear pretty much every day. (At least in my case). Plus, you have to think about what you're getting before you go into the store. Therefore, you have to put some thought of it. Also, I would like to add that I think that keys are a bit more romantic than hearts for two reasons. One, they are not as cliche as hearts. (I mean hearts are okay, but everyone talks about getting something heart-shaped) Two, you hold the key to my heart? Now isn't that romantic?
Bake me cookies. Cookies are also accepted. Mainly cause cookies are the sweetest thing ever. Show up at my door with a batch of chocolate chip cookies, and I'm yours.
Let's Go to the Beach, Beach... The beach is perhaps one of my favorite places to go. If you take me there it's a win-win situation. You get to see me in a swimsuit (which I'm sure will make you happy), and I believe that the beach is one of the best places ever.
....or Let's Go On A Walk.. Going on a romantic walk...? Well before you say cliche hear me out. Some of the best conversations I've had have actually been on walks. I'm big on the talking, so if you like me and want to do something with me, two thumbs up for that.
Mixed CDs Aren't Just For The 90s. If you make a mixed CD it's perhaps deemed as being one of the most thoughtful gifts ever. Why? Well, let's look at the facts. Making a CD takes time and effort to do, yes? Therefore, they must have you on the brain while doing it. Also, you have to really know the person in order to make them the CD. All and all? A great idea for a guy looking to make a sweet move.
Romance may be dead, but I do know one thing. Everything's looking for a comeback, and so can romance. Come on fellas, let's make romance a thing again.

Things You Should Never Admit While Dating..Or Trying To.

Whenever you want to date someone you want to present the best side of you. You know, the sunny, superconfident side of you that makes you shine and more desireable? You best not tell them those hidden secrets that are like bats hidden in your attic. Then they wouldn't realize that you're perfect and that your worth having.
I'm insecure.  Guys like girls that ooze confidence, yes? Well honestly, I am that girl who doesn't have any. I have some, but honestly I lack it. It's hard for me to say that I like someone, cause I worry. I worry big time about worrying that I look like an idiot. I worry about my wieght, and at times, I have a lot of issues with the way I look. I don't think guys can like girls who do that.
I can never take chances. One of the things that I worry about is the fact that I have been rejected. Twice. It's hard to dust yourself off when that happens. Therefore, we lock ourselves in this cocoon where you're away from human contact. Or at least me. It's hard for me to adopt that carefree YOLO attitude where I can careless. Cause I do. If I get hurt, it takes a long time for me to get over it. So, rather than worrying it or risking the whole getting hurt thing, I just don't try.
I worry about attachment. I worry that sometimes being happy can lead to attachment. Like, getting used to having someone in my life, and then all of a sudden, they aren't there anymore. I've gotton this way due to the fact that I got my heart so broken that I still see the scars today. I worry about that happening to me again.
I get lonely sometimes. Sometimes, I feel alone. During that time, I just want someone to give me a hug. It's probably percieved as 'needy' but when that happens I just want someone sweet to talk to about life.
I drink too much coffee/swear like a sailor/eat too much chocolate. I have at least one cup of coffee everyday, swear like no tomorrow, and eat way too much chocolate. That's just me.

Overall, those are my general flaws. I worry, eat too much, and have insecurities. Who the hell would love someone like that? I know that if I wanted to put that in an about me at a dating site, then I'm pretty sure that I won't find any matches. However, I can't help but wonder if my flaws are what makes me, well me. I can't change, but maybe, those little quirks are things that I want to hide in my closet, next to my skeltons. However, I think that those things, added up to the good things, make me the completely whole awesome person.
