Fall Semester Goals!

Wow, I can't believe that I'm already a senior in college. It seems like yesterday since I was wondering around campus lost, sad and confused and now I'm a senior who hopefully has an idea about where I'm going. (JK I'm not even graduating on time) However, even though I'm going to be a senior for the next year and a half, I still have a laundry list of things that I hopefully will get accomplished this next semester.

  • Have fun: This past year has been a formula of working two jobs, and class. This semester I still have two jobs but it's nowhere near as demanding as it was last year. So I want to make sure that I make time to have fun and do things that I actually will enjoy. Make time for fro yo dates and dinners with friends. Make time to read with a cup of iced tea, and for blogging. I believe you are the one in complete control of your schedule, so make sure that you schedule time to breath.
  • Visit friends. I've been meaning to visit my friend Griffin at Vassar for the past year, and now I actually will try to make time to go see it. I've seen so many great pictures of it, and the campus is beautiful. So, this semester I actually want to see it. (And if I do go, make sure I get amazing pictures for Instagram.)
  • Do the best I can. Sometimes I'll think my best isn't good enough. It really is. So, if I'm working really hard and I need a break I'm going to take it. I want to make sure I'm doing the best that I can, not rushing through it. I want to keep my status on Dean's List, but I also want to keep my sanity.
  • Remember that everything is going to be okay. Sure, there's going to be days when everything really sucks. However, the thing about bad days is that they only last 24 hours. When I have a bad day, I will try to remember that it doesn't last forever and to take extra care of myself.

Goals For Junior Year.

Wow, I can't believe that I am a junior in college. It seems like yesterday when I was starting my first day of college classes, but in reality I have been at Southern for 4 semesters already. I can't believe it, and I surely can't believe that I've been out of high school for just as long.
Anyways, I'm actually ready to make this my semester. I've said that last year, and look where that got me. But, this year it really will be my year. And if not, who cares because I'm awesome.
Anyways, here's my goals for this year.
Actually get my driver's license. I've said that for the past year, but this time I truly mean it. I've been driving a lot over the summer, and I am ready to go and actually pass my driving test. Plus it would be nice to have some freedom. Everyone can use that.
Actually get my grades up. My GPA went from a 3.27 to a 3.1. Between almost failing a class, and not doing so hot the next semester my grades are in desperate need of getting raised. I also don't want to put pressure on myself, because otherwise I'll begin to crack. This way I'll just do my best and that's all I can do.
Narrow down my grad school list. Right now, I have a list of 7 grad schools that I may or may not want to go to. I want to narrow it down to at least 6 because I want to go to schools where I really like. Not just as a safety. (And for those of you who are wondering my list is Columbia, Quinnipiac, Hosftra, New York University, Harvard, BU, CUNY, and Emerson. I am going for a master's in journalism.)
Be happy. Being happy is something that is important because I feel like I should be happy no matter what I do. I want to love thi syear and make the most out of it. I want to be able to say that I was happy and that I did awesome stuff. At the end of the day, that's all that matters. I have a lot to look foreward to this upcoming school year. I work at two awesome jobs, from the school newspaper, to the library. Both are excellant opportunities. Also, I am taking extremely interesting classes in which that I'm excited about. I have wonderful friends, and my love life...well let's not go there. I think the ultimate goal is to be happy more than anything. That my friend is all that matters.
Are you a college student? If so, what are your goals for this school year?

20s Goals, PT1.

In less than a year, I will be turning the big 21. That means in less than 365 days,  I will be able to drink legally, and gamble. Fun stuff, becoming a full fledged adult. However, before I reach this milestone, I would like to have done more. Therefore, here's my bucket list for my 20s-part one of 10.

  1. Travel to at least one different state. I really need to do some traveling, because there's so much of the world that I have yet to see. Whether its to visit Gabriel, a day trip to Rhode Island or New York, I just want to see what else is out there other than little ol' CT.
  2. Stop overthinking. I overthink pretty much everything, whether it's what outfit I wear, to my romantic relationships. I need to do more than think, and this is the prime opportunity to start.
  3. Get on Dean's List. I really need to bring up my GPA, because it's important to graduate college with a bang. Plus, I really want to give more in my classes.
  4. Blog more. I've becoming more and more involved in the blogger community, and I want to grow and continuously expand my blog.
  5. See Frozen. I really want to see this movie, and still have yet to see it.  Everyone has seen it and loves it so I want to see what the hype is about.
  6. Become more comfortable with myself. I have grown to love myself, because I believe that's really important. However, I want to become even more comfortable with myself, and realize my worth.

Rebecca Bloomwood Syndrome

Rebecca Bloomwood is the protagonist for the highly acclaimed 'Confessions of a Shopacholic' series. Rebecca, in case y'all haven't read the book or seen the movies, has a severe spending problem where she's addicted to shopping and spending money. Her addiction goes so far that she's up to her neck in debt, and it leaks into her work, and love life.
So what is Rebecca Bloomwood syndrome? Well, when you start buying random things, it's a bit of a problem because you might not actually need the things.Rebecca buys things for the sake of buying things, and that's not okay when you're trying to make money and pay your bills at the same time.
Shopping sometimes can be an addiction when you use it to help you feel better, or when you're buying kitchenware..despite the fact that you're still living with Mom and Dad. Sometimes, I do give into retail therapy, especially when I'm upset. However, buying a bunch of things that you don't exactly need isn't exactly the best way to deal with your problems.
At the end of the day, we can all avoid Rebecca Bloomwood syndrome. I'm guilty of spending more money then I need to which results in me not having any money, and praying to the day that I get paid comes faster. I've decided to put myself on a budget so I can save all of my money...well err most of it...rather than spend it. I've decided to really make sure I put much thought into every purchase I make, and make sure I pay my bills off before I spend money for leisurely purposes (I.E. books, CDs, and bracelets) I want to get into the habit of saving money, rather than spending it. Sure, it'll be hard, but I want to spend my money wisely, because I work hard to earn it, and I don't want to waste it.
It's time for me to conquer Rebecca Bloomwood syndrome...one purchase at a time!

November 2013 Goals And Stuff

Wow, I can't believe that it's November! It seems like yesterday that I was changing my calendar to the 2013 one, and now the year is somewhat over. It's amazing how fast the year goes by. I've decided to set a few goals this month. Hopefully, I'll actually met them!
  • Actually complete Nano Wri Mo. I've tried for three years without much success. Needless to say, I'm going to try to make it up to 50,000 words and actually complete a novel.
  • Try to get my grades up. Because of my low grades in psychology, my GPA is going down. I would like to at least keep it at a 3.0, and then be done with psychology forever.
  • Get more confidence. This is more of a long term goal, but I think if I take it in more smaller steps better progress can be made. My boss mentioned that I'm not as confident as I need to be, and I would like to work on being less of an introvert, and more of an extravert.
  • Take more chances. One of my biggest fears in life is getting hurt, especially in the romantic area. I've decided to work on that, once again in smaller steps. However, the common consenous that I've heard is that its better to risk things, and have some sort of chance at being happy, vs doing nothing and not being happy. I have had negative experiences with relationships, and because of that, taking a risk in that department can be the hardest for me. It will get easier, it's just going to take time.
  • Save money. I've been addicted to amazon for the past month, and I'm realizing that with Christmas coming up, it's best that I start to save money for the upcoming holiday season. Hopefully, I can succeed with that.
What are your goals for this month?

Goals for Sophomore Year.

Yay, I'm a sophomore in college. Want to know what that means? I survived my first year in college, didn't gain the freshman 15, and managed to not flunk out. After an extremely long summer vacation, it's that time of year again. And that is back to school time. I always thought that this was the time when you make goals for yourself, not New Year's because you seem to be more motivated now then in January. Or at least in my experiences anyways. Anyways, I'm getting further and further from my point so here's my goals for this upcoming year.
  1. Get my license. I'm 19. I need to drive. I do have my permit, but I need my license because yeah being able to drive myself places and being independent.
  2. Get a 3.5 GPA or higher so I can be accepted into an honor society. My school has an honor's society for one of my majors, and it's my new life goal to get in.
  3. Make lots of new friends. You can never have too many friends. Plus, last year I really didn't get myself out there as much as I would like to and I would like to change that because I only college once. I want this to be a good experience.
  4. Find a job. Because like money is important and stuff.
  5. Make the most of every moment. Carpe fucking diem.
I can't wait to look back on my goals in May to see if I actually fullfilled them. What are your college and life goals?
