Society and the Single Girl: Is Tinder The Only Way?

Recently, I was complaining to Gabu about not being in a relationship. Gabu, who is in a committed relationship, said to get a Tinder because it was the best way to meet guys pretty much, get dates and therefore get into a relationship.
My question is, is it really the only way? Are the days of actually meeting someone in person now forever gone, replaced by an app that's on a smart phone? Yes, Tinder is great for meeting people, perhaps people that you probably otherwise would have never met. But, it's just showing me people, and adding some skepticism. After all, how do I know that they are an actual person, not a Catfish? Or, better yet, how do I know that they don't want to kill me?
Statistics show that people who met online have a better chance of making it. But, has this become the only way to meet people? I would like to think that's not the case, however, more and more people are meeting each other on Tinder. Look at Gabu and their partner. They met on Tinder, and are extremely committed.
I'd like to think this about Tinder. It's a good tool to have in your toolbox if you're seeking a partner, however, it shouldn't be the only one that you use. Tinder's great because it exposes you to a bunch of people who you probably wouldn't have met otherwise. But, we shouldn't be using it as our only avenue to date people. I think there's cute guys everywhere, and you never really know who you're going to end up with. You could meet someone on Tinder. You can meet someone who was in your class, and fell in love. You can also meet someone at work, someone at church, and in the strangest of places. Just because you're on Tinder doesn't mean that you're going to get dates. It just means you're taking the first step to meet new people. It shouldn't shut you off from meeting people offline, because there's so many people around you that could be perfect for you. You just have to really look and really be open to taking risks. (The same goes for Tinder, I suppose.)
So, Gabu, I'm going to have to say that Tinder isn't the only way to meet people. I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree.

Online Dating?

Online dating. Oh yeah, a jungle for those who are creepy and looking to find someone, anyone, to prey on. It's also an oasis for those who are shy, and meeting people is sometimes intimidating.
It  took me about 5 years to realize that life isn't an episode of Sex and the City. Nor is it a romantic comedy, where the love of your life is discovered while ordering Starbucks. Sometimes, online dating is the new and realistic way to find someone that you really want to be with. But, then you'll always wonder if someone will ever be who they say that they are.
Online dating has the connotation of having creepy people around, and the only people who are on are completely desperate. Who else judges someone when they say 'I'm talking to a guy online.' Of course, nowadays it's more common to connect to make connections. It seems like more and more singles are going to Tinder or OK Cupid nowadays because the statistics of finding someone is dismal. Also, there's the whole worrying about if you'll die alone thing.
I have a friend that constantly goes on dates with people met via Tinder. I also have a friend who met her current boyfriend through Facebook. These stories are the good ones. The Internet can sometimes work in our favor-no?
At the same time, there's those stories when people on the Internet who are just in it for one thing-you all know what it is. The concept of online dating makes it so much easier for them to get their fix, which is kind of scary.
While doing the Tinder Project last year, I learned one thing. Havng a Tinder is similar to going shopping at TJ Maxx. Sometimes, you'll find something that truly knocks your socks off. Other times however, you'll walk out feeling sorely disappointed.
So...tell me. What do you think about online dating?

Why I Deleted My Tinder.

Tinder. Ahh, yes the social dating site that helps people meet each other based on Facebook. Well, I used to have one of those, and even wrote a blog about it.
But truth be told, I rather hate it. I hated that some of the guys in there were totally sleaze balls, and were only after one thing. I hated having to put myself out there, and actually message the guys first. I really hated the story that I read on Cosmo recently about a guy who actually created the site harassing a woman and wouldn't take no for an answer.  I hated that it's just sketchy.
So. I did the unthinkable. I deleted my Tinder app. Yes, I'm aware that probably will hurt my chances of meeting the right guy. But, truth be told I didn't want to meet someone in that way shape or form. It seemed way to creepy for me, and I really felt uncomfortable. And who wanted to do something that gave them so much anxiety? I clearly didn't want to be a part of some guys' own personal 'Blurred Lines'.
I didn't know who I was talking to, and whether or not they were the real deal. Deleting it was more for my mental state of mind, than anyone else's. Ever since deleting it, I still talk to one guy that I met a few times a week. (I got his number before deleting the app) I am aware that there's mysgonistic jerks roaming the planet, but for now I know that I actually know that they are away from me virtually.
So I deleted my Tinder. And, all I learned is that there are tons of sketchy dudes out there looking for a good time. And that there's a select few that aren't. However, I am not the girl for casual hookups, and even though Tinder doesn't actually promote having sex, that's the vibe that I got out of it.
