Book Review: Hello Hollywood

If you've checked out my latest Friday Faves or my personal Facebook (are we Facebook Official, yet? If not get with the times and like me already!) You've seen that I've read a book called "Hello Hollywood" by Suzanne Corso for my College Fashionista Internship. As a Style Guru, this was our #CFreads for the month of July. I read it about a week before our fashion talk, and I enjoyed it a lot.
The book was the third in the trilogy following Samantha Bonti. Bonti, a character based off of the events of Corso's own life, had her ups and downs in life. She has previously dated a mobster who abused her, and married a millionaire.
Now, Bonti is a widow headed out for Hollywood. She's become a successful author, and heads to Hollywood with friend Liza and daughter Isabella. She's in a relationship with Paul whose eager to turn her bestseller into a box office hit, however she's unsure at the start of the novel how she feels about him.
However, she quickly meets John Steeling who she falls completely in love with at first sight. Steeling is extremely wealthy and a partner of the movie company. Bonti quickly dumps Paul to be with Steeling, and they quickly begin to date. However Paul won't go away without a fight, as readers quickly begin to find out.
Overall, the book was an amazing read. I enjoyed it because of the way the author wrote. She made the character of Samantha extremely likable and relatable. I especially liked it because I could relate to the Italian Mob references she has. I liked the dialogue and the way the characters interacted with each other through out the book.  Finally, I also liked how she made Samantha so strong, despite the obstacles that she faced. It really made me enjoy the main character and relate to her. Corso writes this book with such skill, and she does an amazing job through out it.
I even looked into getting Corso's other novels-"A Brooklyn Story" and "Suite Life." I just had taken out a "Brooklyn Story" today from my local library and will read it sometime soon.
So, if you're looking for something different to read, I recommend checking out Corso's trilogy. Happy reading! 

Book Review: Shopaholic to the Stars

Another book review, another book off of the summer reading list to cross off! This time it's "Shopaholic to the Stars," which is the seventh book of the Shopaholic series. I've been a huge fan of the series, because it's extremely entertaining. Sophie Kinsella does an amazing job with them, and if you're debating about reading them than I suggest you do. This time it features the protagonist Rebecca Bloomwood (now Brandon) as she and her husband Luke move out to L.A.

Becky is determined to make it big into Hollywood as a stylist. As she does this in pure Becky fashion, you can be sure there's never a dull moment. Becky is a pure shopaholic and no matter what she does, chaos ensues. 

And this book is no different. Brandon finds herself in the middle of a celebrity feud, and is suddenly whisked away by the fame and Hollywood to the point where she's blinded by what's important. Soon, she puts being famous ahead of the things that matter such as her family and her best friend. Instead she wants to be famous, and begins to lose everything. 

The end of the book was a bit of a cliffhanger, however she does soon realize the effects of her neglect. 

I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought that it was funny and entertaining, as well as just a fun book to read. I finished the book in about a week, but I found myself reading it whenever I could find time. 

The only thing that I didn't like about this book was how bad it was to relate to/feel empathy for Becky. Since she's the protagonist, we as the reader have to feel a degree of sympathy towards her. However, I found her both spoiled and selfish. All she cared about was doing things for herself. I guess that's the nature of the character, because she was like that since book one. However, I did find her even more annoying in this book because I would think that after having a child she would grow up a bit. That wasn't the case. 

Other than that, I thought it was definately worth reading, and I definitely recommend if you enjoy chick-literature than you should give this book a try! 

Book Review: P.S. I Still Love You

The latest book I've read in my summer reading adventure is "P.S. I Still Love You" by Jenny Han. The book is a sequel to the book "To All The Boys I Loved Before" which I read last winter and loved. I was so excited to read what was going to happen next in the world of Lara Jean and Peter. 

"P.S. I Still Love You" starts around New Year's Eve when Lara Jean realizes she's still in love with Peter, for real this time. She decides to show up at his house, chickens out, but then drops the letter (a love one that proclaims her love for him, naturally.) He reads the letter, and the two finally get back together. 

Then a few days later, Lara Jean finds out that a video of her and Peter has been posted on a website. Of course, the video shows it as being much more than just making out. Everyone sees the video and Lara Jean panics about it. She's desperate to find out who it is, however she has a hunch that it's Peter's ex-girlfriend. She confronts her about it, however, they both are in denial. 

The story then progresses as one of Lara Jean's past boys who got the love letters replies to her. They suddenly begin a pen pal type of relationship where they exchange letters. Later, it is revealed that he is the grandson of one of the women who Lara Jean works with. She begins to fall for him, and has to choose between the two different guys. 

Overall, I thought the book was an amazing book. I had loved the preceding book, and was so excited that there was a sequel. I loved the character Lara Jean, because I felt that I can relate to her. I thought the dialogue was fresh and funny. The characters were unique, and I thought they were really well portrayed. I enjoyed reading it because it was such an easy book to get lost in, however, I couldn't put it down. Those are the best types of books in my opinion. 

If you're looking for a great summer read, look no further. "P.S. I Still Love You" is an amazing book to read. However, if you haven't read the first book, be sure to pick that up first because otherwise you would be confused if you didn't.

Book Review: Infamous by Lauren Conrad/Reading List Update

Yet another book is crossed off of my Summer Reading List. This book is known as "Infamous" by Lauren Conrad.
The book leaves off where the previous "Fame Game" novel left off. Gaby is coming back from rehab, Madison is adjusting to life without flame Trevor, Kate is focused on getting her image on point and Carmen is trying to figure out who is leaking personal information to the tabloids. The book deals with makeovers, and of course drama. (On and off camera)
Over the course of the novel, I've noticed a change in the characters. The biggest one is in Madison. Previously, she was the evil villian of the story, because she did just about anything for fame or personal gain. Now, she does things whether or not the camera is looking or if it buys her more time on the hit show. I also noticed a change in Kate. Orginally, she was the "good" girl who was innocent and naive. However, through out the course of the story, she began to change in order to do what was in her career's best interest. Towards the progress of her book, I felt like she began to lose who she was as a person and an artist.
The book was well written and an easy book to read. It was fast paced, and the way Conrad wrote made it easy to breeze through the pages. Plus, the plot was juicy which made it even easier to breeze through the pages. I really am a fan of the way Conrad writes, especially with the "Fame Game" series. She writes these novels with such insight that makes the voice of the story authentic and real.
Overall, if you've read "The Fame Game" and "Starstruck," you must  check out the final book in the series. Don't you want to know what happens next? I know I did! I'm so happy I finally got a chance to read this book this summer.
So, this also brings us to my reading list update. So far, I've read three books, and plan to hopefully start "I Am Ozzy" soon. (I've had it on my iPad for a while now!) Additionally, I've also read "We Are Liars," by e. Lockhart, "Love Rosie" and "The List." I'm currently reading "P.S. I Still Love You" by Jenny Han, which will eventually be a review posted up within the next week.

Book Review: We Were Liars

Okay, so this book wasn't on my summer reading list. However, this book was something I was dying to read for a while, so I decided to read it since I had the chance.
The book is about Cadence Sinclair, and her 17th summer at Beechwood, a private island owned by Cady's wealthy family. Every summer, the family gathers and catches up. Cady had suffered a head injury the a few summers back and is having trouble remembering much of what happened during the summer of her accident. She returns after spending the previous summer with her father in Europe, to finally put the pieces together of what happened during the summer where she lost her memory.
The novel goes through Cady's journey to remember what happened during that fateful night. I'm not going to reveal the ending, however, to me it was a surprise.
I honestly really enjoyed reading this book. I thought the way Lockhart laid out the events was skillfully done.The book was amazingly well written, and it's one of those books when you start them, you simply can't put them down. You want to figure out the mystery, so it grabs you in.
So, if you're looking for a book to bring on your beach adventures or a book to engross you this summer look no further. "We Were Liars" by e. lockhart is the perfect book for you.

Book Review: Nice Is Just A Place In France

As you all can recall earlier, I recently did a post about my summer reading list. One of the first books I've recently read was the book "Nice Is Just a Place in France" by the Betches.
I wanted to read this book because I had heard so much hype on it from various bloggers and other people who picked up this book. After doing some careful research (aka just reading the comments), it looked good so I decided to pick it up.
I thought the book was really entertaining and well written. I liked how this was a guidebook, but not really a guidebook. It was an easy read, and I honestly enjoyed reading it. It really struck a cord with me because I think I'm too much of a 'nice girl' and I really need to develop a back bone.
I recommend this book for just about anyone out there whose looking for a good book to read this summer. It's a must have because not only is it humorous, but it also does talk about a lot of pop culture. It was a fast and easy read, perfect for those who are putting the harder reads of the semester fast behind them.

Reading Goals Update!

This is an update to my posts called Books I Have To Read This Summer,  and New Year's Revolutions.
So, I'm a huge fan of reading. In fact, since I work in a library pretty much guarantees that I'm a bookworm, and take out some of the books that I should be putting away. Summer almost always guarantees that I'm going to cross some of my books that I wanted to read during the school year, since I now have the time for it.
Since writing Books I HAVE to Read This Summer, I have read three books. I tried to read Game of Thrones, but I really didn't like it, and had to stop reading it. Two of them were John Green, and I can successfully say that I've read all of his books that he's ever written. The third is Emily Giffin's Where We Belong.  I have also just recently finished the third and fourth books in the Pretty Little Liars series. My goal next is to chip away at the Pretty Little Liars series, in addition to maybe The One and Only.  I recently rediscovered my Nook, so I'm going to try to let it be used instead of just sitting there. Plus, all of my books would be in one little place, so I can take it with me if I choose to the beach.
