Book Review:Every Day by David Leviathan

This book is great with a latte.
One of the books on my semester reading list was "Every Day" by David Leviathan. I'm familiar with a few of Leviathan's books and have been impressed, as I've read "Boy Meets Boy" in the span of a weekend and enjoyed the collaboration he did with John Green on "Will Grayson/Will Grayson." Next up, was "Every Day," which is one of the best books I've ever read as of late.
The book is in the point of view of A, who wakes up each and every morning in a different body. The book starts out when A wakes up in Justin's body. Justin is a typical teenager, and A thinks it's a typical day. However, it's not typical when Rhiannon, who is Justin's girlfriend comes into the picture. A falls in love with her instantly and decides to break one of their rules--which is to get involved. When A wakes up in the body of Nathan, he decides to attend a party, just to see Rhiannon. This in turn results in A getting Nathan in trouble, resulting in a whole mess of problems.
In the mean time, A begins to reveal themselves to Rhiannon. Rhiannon, who was reluctant at first, soon realizes that she's in love with A too. The two begin to do whatever they can to see each other whenever they can.
It isn't before long when problems of the relationship arise. I won't spoil the ending, but I can tell you all this--it's enough to make you cry.
Overall, the book is amazing, and I highly recommend it. The writing is amazing and the story is beautiful. "Every Day" is also one of the most unique love stories that I've ever read, and also one of the most powerful, next to "The Notebook." The book, which was Leviathan definitely wrote an amazing story, and it's definitely worth the read. Sometimes, love stories can be a bit of telling the same thing over and over again. However, "Every Day" is a bit of fresh air. Therefore, it should be on everyone's reading list.

Book Review: The Rosie Project

One week into the semester, and I already can say that I can cross one book off of my semester reading list. This book is called "The Rosie Project."
"The Rosie Project" is about Professor Don Tillman, a genetics professor who is smart intellectually, but not with personal relationships. Don is exact with everything, from how he spends his week to week schedule, to what he eats on a specific night. But, Don lacks a wife. So, enter the Wife Project, where he figures is the perfect solution for his predicament. That way, he can rule out the vegetarians, the smokers, and the people that just weird him out.
Enter Rosie.
Rosie is the exact opposite of what Don thinks he wants. However, she's on the search for not a mate, but for her father. Don is instantly drawn to her, and agrees to participate in her search to find her father.
Throughout the search for Rosie's biological father, Don begins to fall in love with Rosie. He abandons his routines, and at long last, finds his partner.
I enjoyed the book immensely. I had heard a number of good things about this book through co-workers and friends, and I am always on the lookout for a good chick-flick novel. This book definitely does the trick. I loved seeing Rosie and Don begin to fall in love with each other, and I especially loved how Don was willing to change his day to day life just to win the girl. Don reminded me a lot of Sheldon Cooper, with his routine, however, he just wants to fall in love.
If you're a fan of "Me Before You," or any other chick lit, you must read this book. However, this book is also a great read for anyone, as I recommend it for anyone whose out there looking for a great book. I definitely will want to read the second book, "The Rosie Effect," soon. But, before I do, I will be reading "It's Kind of A Funny Story" by Ned Vizzini. (It was not on the list, but I saw it at work, and wanted to read it.)

Book Review: You First by Lea Michele

For those of you who don't know, I am a huge fan of journaling. I've kept a journal of thoughts and various things since the end of my senior year in high school. I may not always have time to write in it, however, I still manged to fill 5 to 6 books during that time.
"You First" by Lea Michele is a book about journaling. The former Glee star, also author of Brunette Ambition, gives a series of various journal prompts to write about. Some of the examples include thinking about your family, recording exercise and eating habits, and talking about ideal relationships. There's a section for each topic, as well as space to write down your thoughts and reflections. In mine, I've used my own personal journal, but I think this format is extremely effective.
I've been using the book for a couple of days now for inspiration for my own journaling. So far, I find the topics very helpful. As a stressed college student, I always don't have the time to take care of myself. This book does exactly that, because it forces me to take a step back and reflect on certain things.

One of the prompts I liked was to talk about past relationships and write about the patterns I've noticed with them. This helped me further realize things about myself that I may not have realized before. This then prompted me to change things about myself for the better, which is always good to do.
Journaling is something that I use to relieve stress. However, for some, it can be hard to begin. While I highly recommend this book for anyone, I especially recommend this for those who want to begin their journal but are stuck on what to say or write. This book gives you prompts on what to say, and it can lead you into self-discovery.
I recommend this book highly. But, if you're going to argue that "I don't have time for this!" let me say that for those who argue that taking the time out of their day to just spend 15 minutes to reflect is crucial in my opinion. Rome wasn't built in a day, so you don't have to fill the entire thing up at once. By doing one prompt a day, it helps you relax and even helps you discover something about yourself that you may not have noticed.
Therefore, I believe this book does in fact put you first, which I believe is an important mindset for many to have. Myself included.
Disclaimer: I've recieved this book from Blogging for Books for this review.

Book Review: Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen

Sarah Dessen is one of my favorite authors, so when I learned that she was coming out with a new novel, I knew that it was a must read for the summer and it deserved a place on my summer reading list.
So, finally after months of putting it off I went to the library to get the book. (The library is my place of choice to get books because I don't actually have to pay for them.) And once I started to read it I couldn't stop.
The book was about Sydney. Her brother Peyton has been going through a challenging time with his court dates, and currently in jail for a hit and run. Sydney's life without a doubt has been affected by it. She's responsible for carrying the weight of her brother's responsibilities and how they have effected her parents. Her mother is in denial and believe Peyton is the victim. Her father stays in silence. Sydney lives a life of what she's supposed to be doing rather than what she wants to be doing.
That is until she meets Layla and her brother Mac. Soon, Sydney spends much of her free time with them. For the first time, she's living not in her brother's shadow but in her own light.
Overall, I thought that this book was really well written. It was one of those books that once you started, you simply couldn't put down no matter what. I liked the main character Sydney a lot. I felt that I could relate to her because she's a lot like me. I however didn't like Sydney's mother because I thought that she was ignorant of her daughter. I understand that she's worried about her son, but she also has another child who has problems of her own. She also expected her daughter to be perfect, however she made excuses for her son who was always in trouble.
Overall, this was an amazing book to read and I definitely recommend it.

Book Review: #GirlBoss

As the summer winds down, I'm knocking down the last few books on my Summer Reading List. I'm looking foreword to getting to say I've read almost every one of the books I've wanted to read this summer, plus a few additional ones which I'm so glad I got the chance to read. However, today's review will focus on the famous #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso. I've heard about this book from various bloggers and social media and really wanted to read the book. So, thanks to my town library having it, I finally was able to.
#Girlboss was about Amoruso's rise to fame with Nasty Gal, a clothing shop that was started on eBay and branched out to be a million dollar business. The book contains tips on how to be successful opening your own business and in life. It also talked a lot about Amoruso's experiences creating a successful business such as Nasty Gal.
I personally liked this book, because it contained a lot of great tips that related to me about work and about how to be a better employee. If you're a college student, I do recommend reading it. I also recommend it to bloggers, as we build our own brands and get a bigger place on the internet because it contains tips on how to have success.
Overall, if you're debating about picking this book up, say no more. Just do it!

Book Review: Hello Hollywood

If you've checked out my latest Friday Faves or my personal Facebook (are we Facebook Official, yet? If not get with the times and like me already!) You've seen that I've read a book called "Hello Hollywood" by Suzanne Corso for my College Fashionista Internship. As a Style Guru, this was our #CFreads for the month of July. I read it about a week before our fashion talk, and I enjoyed it a lot.
The book was the third in the trilogy following Samantha Bonti. Bonti, a character based off of the events of Corso's own life, had her ups and downs in life. She has previously dated a mobster who abused her, and married a millionaire.
Now, Bonti is a widow headed out for Hollywood. She's become a successful author, and heads to Hollywood with friend Liza and daughter Isabella. She's in a relationship with Paul whose eager to turn her bestseller into a box office hit, however she's unsure at the start of the novel how she feels about him.
However, she quickly meets John Steeling who she falls completely in love with at first sight. Steeling is extremely wealthy and a partner of the movie company. Bonti quickly dumps Paul to be with Steeling, and they quickly begin to date. However Paul won't go away without a fight, as readers quickly begin to find out.
Overall, the book was an amazing read. I enjoyed it because of the way the author wrote. She made the character of Samantha extremely likable and relatable. I especially liked it because I could relate to the Italian Mob references she has. I liked the dialogue and the way the characters interacted with each other through out the book.  Finally, I also liked how she made Samantha so strong, despite the obstacles that she faced. It really made me enjoy the main character and relate to her. Corso writes this book with such skill, and she does an amazing job through out it.
I even looked into getting Corso's other novels-"A Brooklyn Story" and "Suite Life." I just had taken out a "Brooklyn Story" today from my local library and will read it sometime soon.
So, if you're looking for something different to read, I recommend checking out Corso's trilogy. Happy reading!

Book Review: I Am Ozzy

Another book to check off of the summer reading list! This time, it's the autobiography "I Am Ozzy" by Ozzy Osbourne. (We're up to four now!)
The book is about Ozzy's life, told through his eyes. The book talks about Osbourne's entire life story, and to be honest, the book is amazing. He tells you about the time he bit a bat, dove and about his drug addiction. He tells you about the rock and roll lifestyle, how he met Sharon and what it was like to be fired from Black Sabbath. Overall, everything you've heard about Osbourne will be in this book.
Let me be honest here and say how much I hate any kind of non-fiction.Ozzy is one of my favorite singers, so naturally I had to read the book.  And I am so glad that I did decided to do so. I think this book was perhaps one of the best books that I've ever read. Sure, the writing wasn't the best but it was very entertaining. Ozzy did an amazing job writing, and you can tell the stories were authentic. Reading the book gave me so much more respect for the singer than what I had originally, as well as just being an overall read. It's something different than any book I'm used to reading, which is usually fiction, so it's a welcome change of pace to read an autobiography.
I recommend this book to pretty much anyone, however, I would especially recommend this book to those who are fans of Osbourne, Black Sabbath or classic rock. Overall, if you're looking for a great autobiography to read look no further. "I Am Ozzy" is an excellent choice for you to spice up your book shelves.

Book Review: The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen

Okay, so this isn't "Saint Anything," but nonetheless, I still read an awesome book.
"The Moon and More" is about Emaline, who lives in a small town called Colby. Colby is the type of town that some get out of but many are there for life. She works for a relator service in Colby, which is a family-run business. It's also a vacation town, which means it's a tourist hot spot. She has the perfect life and perfect long-time boyfriend..but everything was about to change as she was about to head to college.
Emaline was Columbia-bound...or so she thought. Her father and her began a college plan to get her into Columbia, but at the last minute he withdrew from his promise. This caused Emaline to have to accept her full ride scholarship to East-U where many of her high school classmates were planning on going.
Emaline hasn't heard from her father since. Until he calls and asks to meet her for dinner. His aunt had died, and it was time for him to take care of things. She reluctantly agrees, and during the dinner in pops Theo, a guy from New York whose staying for the summer. He's the assis
During the course of the novel, Emaline and Luke soon break up due to Emaline finding out that Luke cheated on her. This causes Emaline to run into the arms of Theo. She thinks he's a summer romance, however, he believes he's in for the long haul.
The novel has a bunch of twists and turns but in true Sarah Dessen fashion, it has somewhat of a happy ending.
Overall, I thought this book was really good. It took me a while to dive into, but once I did I couldn't stop reading. I thought the character of Emaline was really portrayed and really liked how Dessen developed the character. From beginning to end of the novel, I could see a lot of growth on her end of the novel. I thought that was amazingly well done on her end, and also realistic. After the summer post-high school that precedes college is the one where you do the most soul searching. I liked how it took less time for her to get with Theo after breaking up with Luke.
I'm a little uneasy with the ending, I thought it was a little quick and I wasn't completely satisfied with it. But, I enjoyed reading the novel overall. I recommend this to those who are a fan of young adult, as well as a good summer romance.

Book Review: P.S. I Still Love You

The latest book I've read in my summer reading adventure is "P.S. I Still Love You" by Jenny Han. The book is a sequel to the book "To All The Boys I Loved Before" which I read last winter and loved. I was so excited to read what was going to happen next in the world of Lara Jean and Peter.
"P.S. I Still Love You" starts around New Year's Eve when Lara Jean realizes she's still in love with Peter, for real this time. She decides to show up at his house, chickens out, but then drops the letter (a love one that proclaims her love for him, naturally.) He reads the letter, and the two finally get back together.
Then a few days later, Lara Jean finds out that a video of her and Peter has been posted on a website. Of course, the video shows it as being much more than just making out. Everyone sees the video and Lara Jean panics about it. She's desperate to find out who it is, however she has a hunch that it's Peter's ex-girlfriend. She confronts her about it, however, they both are in denial.
The story then progresses as one of Lara Jean's past boys who got the love letters replies to her. They suddenly begin a pen pal type of relationship where they exchange letters. Later, it is revealed that he is the grandson of one of the women who Lara Jean works with. She begins to fall for him, and has to choose between the two different guys.
Overall, I thought the book was an amazing book. I had loved the preceding book, and was so excited that there was a sequel. I loved the character Lara Jean, because I felt that I can relate to her. I thought the dialogue was fresh and funny. The characters were unique, and I thought they were really well portrayed. I enjoyed reading it because it was such an easy book to get lost in, however, I couldn't put it down. Those are the best types of books in my opinion.
If you're looking for a great summer read, look no further. "P.S. I Still Love You" is an amazing book to read. However, if you haven't read the first book, be sure to pick that up first because otherwise you would be confused if you didn't.
What have you been reading lately? I'm currently reading the book "The Moon and More," by Sarah Dessen. Next up will be "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "Shopaholic to the Stars" (which is on my summer reading list!)

Book Review: Infamous by Lauren Conrad/Reading List Update

Yet another book is crossed off of my Summer Reading List. This book is known as "Infamous" by Lauren Conrad.
The book leaves off where the previous "Fame Game" novel left off. Gaby is coming back from rehab, Madison is adjusting to life without flame Trevor, Kate is focused on getting her image on point and Carmen is trying to figure out who is leaking personal information to the tabloids. The book deals with makeovers, and of course drama. (On and off camera)
Over the course of the novel, I've noticed a change in the characters. The biggest one is in Madison. Previously, she was the evil villian of the story, because she did just about anything for fame or personal gain. Now, she does things whether or not the camera is looking or if it buys her more time on the hit show. I also noticed a change in Kate. Orginally, she was the "good" girl who was innocent and naive. However, through out the course of the story, she began to change in order to do what was in her career's best interest. Towards the progress of her book, I felt like she began to lose who she was as a person and an artist.
The book was well written and an easy book to read. It was fast paced, and the way Conrad wrote made it easy to breeze through the pages. Plus, the plot was juicy which made it even easier to breeze through the pages. I really am a fan of the way Conrad writes, especially with the "Fame Game" series. She writes these novels with such insight that makes the voice of the story authentic and real.
Overall, if you've read "The Fame Game" and "Starstruck," you must  check out the final book in the series. Don't you want to know what happens next? I know I did! I'm so happy I finally got a chance to read this book this summer.
So, this also brings us to my reading list update. So far, I've read three books, and plan to hopefully start "I Am Ozzy" soon. (I've had it on my iPad for a while now!) Additionally, I've also read "We Are Liars," by e. Lockhart, "Love Rosie" and "The List." I'm currently reading "P.S. I Still Love You" by Jenny Han, which will eventually be a review posted up within the next week.
How's your summer reading going? Let me know in the comments below!

Book Review: The One And Only by Emily Giffin

Finally, knocking one of the books off of my summer reading list!  This is the second book that I now can cross off, and I'm in the process of reading a third called Infamous by Lauren Conrad. My goal to read 10 books over the summer is going really well, because I'm already on book five. After I read Infamous, I'm going to read "P.S. I Still Love You," by Jenny Han, followed by "Breakfast at Tiffany's." Now that I've checked in with my summer reading goals, let me begin to review the latest book I've read.
Emily Giffin is one of my favorite authors ever since I've read "Something Borrowed." I've wanted to read "The One and the Only" since it came out last summer, however I don't know why it took so long for me to pick up a copy. But, I finally did and got to reading.
The book is about Shea Rigsby, who suddenly feels like her life isn't good enough after a close family friend's death. She begins to rethink her job, her relationship and what she wants out of life. Shea then breaks up with longtime boyfriend Miller, whose a loser. She begins to go out with an old college friend named Ryan, and gets a job at a newspaper. However, she still can't shake the feeling that something could be wrong, as she begins to discover her real feelings for someone else.
As the book progresses, it has a lot of twists and turns. The ending, although won't be revealed, was a surprise yet fulfilling ending.
Overall, I thought this book was pretty good. It was a bit slow at first, as Shea begins to figure out what to do next, however by page 100 the pacing of the book flew by. This isn't one of my favorite Giffin novels, however she didn't disappoint me. (Especially since I've waited so long to get to read the book) I recommend this book to anyone whose a fan of the 'chick lit' genre, and it's an amazing read.
So, if you haven't read this book, I say check it out!

Book Review: Love, Rosie

Source
The latest book I've read was "Love Rosie" by Cecelia Ahern. (It was originally called "Where Rainbows End." While it wasn't on my summer reading list like the previous books I've read, it still was a great summer read, and I totally recommend it.
The book was about two best friends, Rosie and Alex. Friends since childhood, it seems like they were meant to be. The problem? Everyone seems to know it but them. Told entirely in letters, emails and instant message chats, the book spans about fifty years. (I'm not going to reveal the ending, however, it was a good one!) It takes the reader through marriages, births and divorce, and it was an amazing read.
I recommend this book to fans of any kind of chick lit. If you loved books such as "The Notebook" and "Something Borrowed" this is the perfect book for you. It's an easy read, but enjoyable.
Overall, if you're looking for something to read this summer, check out "Love Rosie."
Have you read "Love Rosie?" If so, let me know what you think about it in the comments below!

Book Review: We Were Liars

Okay, so this book wasn't on my summer reading list. However, this book was something I was dying to read for a while, so I decided to read it since I had the chance.
The book is about Cadence Sinclair, and her 17th summer at Beechwood, a private island owned by Cady's wealthy family. Every summer, the family gathers and catches up. Cady had suffered a head injury the a few summers back and is having trouble remembering much of what happened during the summer of her accident. She returns after spending the previous summer with her father in Europe, to finally put the pieces together of what happened during the summer where she lost her memory.
The novel goes through Cady's journey to remember what happened during that fateful night. I'm not going to reveal the ending, however, to me it was a surprise.
I honestly really enjoyed reading this book. I thought the way Lockhart laid out the events was skillfully done. The book was amazingly well written, and it's one of those books when you start them, you simply can't put them down. You want to figure out the mystery, so it grabs you in.
So, if you're looking for a book to bring on your beach adventures or a book to engross you this summer look no further. "We Were Liars" by e. lockhart is the perfect book for you.

Book Review: Nice Is Just A Place In France

As you all can recall earlier, I recently did a post about my summer reading list. One of the first books I've recently read was the book "Nice Is Just a Place in France" by the Betches.
I wanted to read this book because I had heard so much hype on it from various bloggers and other people who picked up this book. After doing some careful research (aka just reading the comments), it looked good so I decided to pick it up.
I thought the book was really entertaining and well written. I liked how this was a guidebook, but not really a guidebook. It was an easy read, and I honestly enjoyed reading it. It really struck a cord with me because I think I'm too much of a 'nice girl' and I really need to develop a back bone.
I recommend this book for just about anyone out there whose looking for a good book to read this summer. It's a must have because not only is it humorous, but it also does talk about a lot of pop culture. It was a fast and easy read, perfect for those who are putting the harder reads of the semester fast behind them.
So, are you interested in this book? Pick it up at Barnes and Noble today!

Book Review: Lauren Conrad Style

Lauren Conrad is the ultimate boss. She's a clothing designer, an author and the ultimate role model. How many times during the course of "the Hills" you stopped and thought "I want to be her?" Everyone can relate to her issues on the show, and she came out looking like the nice girl. Chances are, that number is higher than you probably would have liked to admit. At least, I speak for myself anyways. However, what made Lauren Conrad, also known as LC more reliable is her book "Lauren Conrad Style." While many of her reality classmates, such as the Kardashians and Snooki wrote books as well, Lauren Conrad stands out because she managed to do it about what she loved. Fashion.
The book is basically a magazine disguised as a book. There's a chapter for everything from getting down the basics, to getting your makeup on point. I like this book because Lauren never tells someone how to dress, but rather gives you inside tips. This goes from how to pack for a trip to making sure you have the perfect handbag for every occasion.
This book is a must have because let's face it. Who hasn't sat in front of the mirror and wondered what to wear? LC got you covered, girl. I recommend this book for anyone out there whose interested in fashion. I especially recommend this book to those who are fashion bloggers or who want to write about fashion. (I'm interning for College Fashionista this summer and will be using this book for ideas. Check my blog's Facebook for more of my CF posts) No matter what the trends are, this book will always be this season's must have.

Book Review-Best of Me

Hey readers! So, I'm trying something completely different, because why not expand my blogging comfort zone! Today I'm reviewing a book that I've read recently called the Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks! And yes, it's coming out in movie form October 17th.
 http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMzQ5Njg3Njk5N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwODIwODIxMjE@._V1_SX214_AL_.jpg

The book is about high school sweethearts Dawson and Amanda. Dawson's family is considered to be the 'bad seeds' of their small North Carolina town, and Amanda is warned to stay away from him. However, she is drawn to Dawson, who really isn't that bad unlike most of his outlaw family members. The two are together for a year before Amanda's parents intervene by threatening to not pay for Amanda's college if she continues seeing Dawson. Amanda runs to Dawson who realizes that he's not the best for Amanda and cause the two to break up. The two meet for a mutual friend's funeral about 25 years later, and begin to fall in love again. However fate has different plans, like in true Nicholas Sparks fashion.
I'm not going to give away the ending...well because you all should read it.
I honestly thought that the book was excellant. It was a quick and light read, like most of Nicholas Sparks books are. It took me about a week, and it was only 292 pages long, which wasn't too bad at all. There were constant changes of points of view, which I honestly liked about the book, and the ending...well it was upsetting to leave it at that. Just be sure to have a box of tissues ready.
I reccommend this book to anyone who is in the mood for some good, old-fashioned chick lit. I've read many other Nicholas Sparks' novels, and this one didn't disappoint my expectations. It's romantic, sweet, and beautiful. Overall, I liked the book, and if you're looking for a quick read you should check it out.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
