2014 Reading Bucket List

Okay, so I've been really into reading ever since I was little. Recently, I rediscovered my nook, and I have decided to use it rather than just let it sit there. So, I've decided to make a list of books that I wanted to read during the year of 2014, and here's the thing; ACTUALLY READ THEM.

  • Staying Strong by Demi Lovato. Okay, let me say that Demi is my homegirl. But her book is awesome. I just downloaded it yesterday, and the book is talking about staying strong everyday of the year. My goal with this book is to (starting on January 1st) read it everyday and embrace some of her positive energy. I think that being positive is the first step to making something really and truly great.
  • The rest of the Pretty Little Liars books. My friend Alessia got me hooked on these books, and I read the first two within days. I can't wait to read the rest, because they are so intense. You literally can't put the books down, so I really want to finish the books. And then watch the show.
  • The Fame Game series by Lauren Conrad. I love Lauren Conrad in general, and her books are awesome. I've read L.A. Candy, Sweet Little Lies, and Sugar and Spice over the summer. Now that I heard that she has more books out, I want to read those as well.
  • An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. Okay, so John Green is amazing. I really want to read this book, because it looks really interesting. I mean a guy that only dates girls named Katherine? Come on. That's pretty interesting.
  • Looking for Alaska by John Green. I really like John Green's books, and I really want to get around to finishing them all this year. I honestly don't know what this book is about, but I'm looking foreward to reading it.
  • The One and Only by Emily Giffin. Emily Giffin is one of my favorite authors. My favorite book of all time is Something Borrowed. This is the only book by her that I haven't read by her, so I am expecting that this book will be really good.
  • Dreamland, Keeping the Moon, The Moon and More and The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. Sarah Dessen is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors too. I'm lucky that the library that I work at has them. I really like her books because they remind me of summer. Like the others, I can't put them down as well.
  • Blog Inc. Blogging for Passion, Profit, and to Create Community. I saw this while reading a few of Rachel from Sunshine and Sinatra's old blog entries, and I feel like as a blogger, that might be something that I should read to give my blog a bigger mark in the blogger world.
Okay, so it looks like I'm going to be doing a lot of reading in this new year! What is on your reading bucket list?

Reunion

So for those of you who don't know, although I am sure that I've mentioned this before, my best friend (pictured above) goes to college in Minnesota. And, because of that, since we live about 12000 miles away, it's not ideal to see each other fairly frequently. So, in August, I said my goodbyes. And I knew that it would be a long time before he came back. Although things would change, I did realize that something never would. And that was the fact that we would always and forever be close friends. But still, that doesn't make the goodbye come any easier.
During his time away at college, he had new experiences, as did I. I got a job, and changed my major completely. We both grew. We both changed. But you want to know the best thing about this whole thing? Our friendship didn't. We both called each other, whether it was once a week, or several times a week. When we couldn't, whether it was because we were busy or whatever, it was no big deal. We texted and we skyped.
So when he finally came home, we made plans to have lunch and spend the afternoon together. And it was awesome.
Honestly, it felt that we never were apart. (Thank you modern technology.) Getting to see him, in person, not behind a screen was an amazing feeling because I got to be with my best friend. After a hug, we had an amazing lunch, some coffee, and some other food items before I had to go to work.

(us enjoying dessert at Panera!)
Honestly, he's always going to be my best friend. Throughout this whole thing I realized that no matter what goes on, or how far we are in miles, we will always be close. He's my best friend, plain and simple. I know that he will always have my back, as I will have his. It doesn't matter if we live across town, and across the country. We will always fight over french fries, never agree about purple hair, but that's okay. Our relationship is full of jokes that we will never understand, and never actually being serious. That's just us, and it works.
But I am so glad that he's home, and I can't wait to hang out with him more over our long break. Welcome home Hiroki. Love you!

Things I Love Thursday; My iPad

Okay so my mom is basically the queen of finding a good deal on stuff. (She is a QVC hound, so if you guys are looking for a good deal on stuff, check there.) Anyways, so one day she happened to be watching it when the Today's Special Value came on. (For those of you who are not QVC hounds like my mom, that's basically like the best deal that they have to offer for the day.) And there was an iPad 2 with accessories available for the low price of $600. And we're talking a keyboard, headphones, car charger, all that jazz. Anyways, since my computer was on the outs, my mom decided to buy me one for Christmas and give it to me early.
Thank you mom for that.
I recommend the iPad for pretty much anyone. I love it because I can type papers on it using Google Drive, do anything that I would normally use social media for, and of course blog. As a blogger and a writer I like it because I can do my blogging with a small but convenient device. The entries come out so much easier on it, than they do on my computer. As a student, I enjoy bringing it to class to write out my notes. Since it's so small, I can fit it in my bag. Writing notes is actually easier ever since I started bringing them in, because I type a thousand times faster than I do writing, therefore getting more information than I would if I were handwritten. When I'm done, it just saves right into my Google Drive. If you're a college student, you should honestly consider it.
I also use my iPad for fun things to. My personal favorite app is actually the Amazon and the Facebook app. Using these apps on a tablet are ten times more easier than using it on my phone. Plus, since it's on a bigger screen, it's a lot easier to see than the little iPhone one. The app store has tons of cool games to play, although personally I have never gotten other than candy crush.
Overall, the iPad makes an excellent gift for pretty much anyone in your life. I recommend it for just about anyone. And once you get it, I am sure that you wouldn't be able to imagine life without it.

This Semester

So yesterday marked the end of my semester. And to be quite honest, I am quite excited about it. It was one of those semesters that taught you one thing. For me, that was hard work mostly pays off.
This was the semester when I finally realized what I wanted to do with my life. When I realized that maybe being a psychiatrist wasn't exactly the best thing in the world for me. Double majoring wasn't exactly the answer for me, and I am sort of glad that I found that out now. This semester I put so much pressure on myself to be perfect, and to be great. But wanna know something? I was great all along. I didn't need years of schooling, and tons of degrees to tell me that I was.
I did however find something that means a lot to me. And that is writing. I believe to do something, you must be happy doing it. It doesn't matter what others think, or whether it makes sense. If you like it, and it makes you happy than you should do it. I realize that being a writer, whether it's writing the next novel or for the local paper is what I want. It may not be easy, and sure as hell it's not going to make the most sense to most people. But, I am the one doing it, so therefore I should be happy right?
Now that the semester is over, I am looking foreword to having some time to myself. Reading, writing for myself, and hanging out with my friends. I need to relax, and I am looking foreword to doing so before the spring semester.
So yeah, you can say that I made this semester my bitch.
