Why Cookies Are The Best Things Ever

(Tumblr; Jess Day you got it going on.)
If you all don't know about this, cookies are my favorite food in all of the land. Cookies, in my opinion, are the best things ever. Here's some reasons why cookies are the best foods ever;

  • They always make me happy. I can never not be happy when I'm not eating a cookie. So whenever I'm having a bad day, I'm sure to hit the cookie jar.Or where ever the cookies are at. I have  a personal belief that you can never be sad while eating cookies. Therefore, when I'm sad a cookie can cheer me up.

  • There are so many different kinds. Cookies are so versatile. Whether they are chocolate chip, chocolate covered, or just plain old chocolate cookies have a lot of things that can be put in. My personal favorites are chocolate chips and Oreos. What's yours?
  • They are the ultimate reward. Cookies are the ultimate reward when you're surrounded by books. Therefore, when you have a lot of homework, when it's done you can reward yourself with a cookie. It's the best reward, because hey you have cookies and when you're done with your homework. It's a win-win situation.
Overall, cookies are a metaphor for what makes me happy. At the end of the day, you need something in your life to make you happy. Whether it's a cookie, or something else, it's something that makes life a little bit better.  What is your cookie?

Favorite TV Characters...Ever.

Part of the thing that makes a television show so great is the characters that are a part of the story. How many of your #mancrushmondays, or your #womancrushwednesdays are a fictional television character? They make the show ten times better because without them the show would be boring. With out further a due ladies and gentlemen, I present to you my favorite television shows ever.
This one's for Jamie.

Schmidt: Schmidt has to be one of my favorite television characters. He's a douchebag, for lack of better terms. But underneath it all, he's one of the sweetest guys. He has the best intentions, although they don't always go as executed. He's hilarious, and he's always doing something comical. Therefore, he's always going to be one of my favorite characters. Plus, I've now come to terms with saying "Oh schimdt all of the time."

Frank Barone: One of my favorite shows as a kid is the comedy Everybody Loves Ray. Frank was one of my favorites, because he's not afraid to say what's on his mind. It's really hilarious how blunt he can be. He's always able to make me laugh. Plus, deep down he's that grandpa who always cares about his grandchildren.

Jess Day; One of my three television role models, Jess Day is quirky, not afraid to be a bit geeky, and everyone can relate to that. Myself included.

Carrie Bradshaw; Carrie Bradshaw was the original blogger, lemme say that. She's my favorite television character ever, because she's always looking for love. Even though sometimes she doesn't succeed, she still looks for it, and her writing is so honest and fresh. She's a role model to everyone, myself included. Plus she's on not one but two television shows. Pretty cool, huh?

Lorelei Gilmore: Lorelei is perhaps my favorite characters ever. She's very into coffee, she talks fast, and is very spunky. She's very independent, and she doesn't need the help of anyone. I like that most about her. I often quote Lorelei, because I look up to her.

Sheldon Cooper; Sheldon Cooper is so blunt, and he in my opinion is what's making the Big Bang Theory. He's so geeky and awkward and it's great. My favorite Sheldon moment is when he was trying to get his learner's permit and he ended up harassing the lady at the DMV. I wish getting my permit was that easy.

Sophia Petrillo: Sophia is my favorite character because she simply doesn't care what she says to people and how she affects them. She's not afraid to call Rose 'stupid', and Blanche a 'slut'. She's fearless, and she's what I want to be when she's my age.

Whose your favorite television show character?

Divergent-My New Reading Obession

We've all had those books that we just can't put down. You know the books when you can read a hundred pages, and not notice that you've actually read that much. The books that you had to have the moment that they come out in the stores. First it was Harry Potter. Than it was the Hunger Games. Now, as the movies begin to spike in popularity, it's Divergent.
I'm on book one, because I'm one of those people who has to read the books before seeing the movies and watching the shows. However, this is a must read.
Divergent is similar to the Hunger Games when it talks about a futuristic society. There are five factions, and when you turn 16, you get tested into one. Beatrice Prior however tests into three different factions, which makes her Divergent, and puts her in very great danger. The story follows Beatrice's choice as she enters into the faction that she chooses and we watch her transform into a completely different person.
Recently, the book has become popular because of the recent movie starring former Secret Life of the American Teenager star Shailene Woodley. The movie opened number one, and is still a popular movie in it's third week at theaters.
It's not a common thing to turn books into movies, and for them to be box offices hits. Movies such as the Great Gatsby, the Harry Potter series, and the Hobbit movies have struck box office gold. All of them have one thing in common-being best sellers. However books such as Something Borrowed, which were good as books, flopped in movies.
Divergent is no different, because it's a best selling novel AND has become box office royalty. I think that the most important thing to remember while trying to turn books into movies is to make the movies as close to the books as possible. That way, they are honor the movies as close as humanly possible. However, we do have to keep in mind that we can't fit 5 hundred pages in a two hour time slot, and thus things would have to get cut.
So, the bottom line? If you're looking for a book to read, Divergent is the best book for you.

Spotlight on Fake Pregnancy Clinics

If you have sex, you get pregnant and die.
You've all seen Mean Girls, right? Who can remember this blockbuster Kodak moment in the movie. However, as we all know that isn't exactly true. But, there's some institutions that promote the thinking of this said Mean Girls quote of wondering what would happen when you get pregnant. Those institutions, rather than promote pro-choice, promote pro-life, which is basically your average ordinary should there be a choice on whether or not a woman could decide to abort the baby. These clinics are called fake pregnancy clinics.
The whole abortion thing is a tricky issue. I do however believe that for the most part, the woman should have the choice to abort a pregnancy if she chooses to do so. Since we live in a country that promotes freedom of speech, religion, press, and other fun stuff, I think that we have the freedom to do whatever the hell we want when it comes to our bodies. Some however disagree. Some think that pro-life should be more important because they are viewing this as being murder even though the life has yet to enter the world.
My friend introduced the topic to me earlier on, and I decided to do research on the fake pregnancy clinics. These clinics basically talks people into keeping their babies, and having them. These types of clinics offer very little choices in what options are available, and even go as far as not sharing the options that teens have.
So why are they open?
According to the first amendment, we have the rights of freedom of speech, press, religon, and the rights to assemble. Therefore, these people by the rights of the first amendmant are able to say these things those who are in fact pregnant. However, I think that these centers are wrong. Despite what your beliefs are, I think that this is wrong. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion to these sorts of issues. However, with that being said you can't only tell someone that their only option is. As a pregnancy clinic you have to share whatever options are avaliable for them. Whether or not it goes against your beliefs or not than it's your probelm not theirs. If they have an abortion, then they should be able to get one. If you are unable to give them one, or perform the action than maybe you should look into a career that doesn't require you to be as open minded.
No matter what you believe, I think that it's important to be informed about the options that you have. I think that it's wrong to recieve information that isn't untrue, and you aren't offered the information that you are entitled in having. If you don't feel ready to be a mother, than its a choice that only the person carrying the child has to make. It's a hard choice to make, but these types of situations  are rather tough. We have to be openminded, and be able to not judge, because we are not in these women's shoes.
Although the reasoning of these clinics aren't clear, one thing in my opinion is-they are wrong, more or less.

#inspirationmovement-"Me, Myself, and I"

I think that the biggest relationship that we have in our lives is the one that we have with ourselves. If you don't love yourself, then you won't be able to love someone else. Sometimes self love, and being kind yourself is necessary.
The relationship that I have with myself needs some work, I do admit. I sometimes push myself to extremes, and am always down on myself. I sometimes think that I am not good enough, and have days when I'm down. I realize that these kinds of thought processes are bought on by stress, and feeling like I'm not good enough.
However, with that being said I'm trying to do better. I'm trying to become more organized, and realizing that it's okay to sometimes say "I need a break." I bought the Demi Lovato book, and decided to actually read it everyday. I even decided to take a half an hour, to an hour of time for myself to do something really cool for me. I think that by doing that helps me realize that everything is going to be okay. Whether it's watching New Girl, or reading Divergent, it's time for me. I need to do that for me.
The relationship with myself is going to take time to repair. However, over time I think that there's always room for improvement. You're in a relationship with yourself for as long as you live so therefore you must nurture it just like you always nurture relationships that you have with other people. Love yourself, love others.
End of story.

My Life As A Pollotarian

Hi, my name is Natalie and I am a pollotarian. A pollotarian is someone who doesn't eat red meat, but does eat chicken and meat products. So, that's right folks I don't eat meat, and I haven't touched beef in a few weeks. (the only reason why I ate meat then was because of medical reasons) I've decided to not eat anything but chicken in late November, making Thanksgiving a virtual nightmare, but sometimes ate meat. However, I decided to give this pollotarian a shot and actually try to actually not eat meat.
Some say that pollotarians are like the stepping stones of the process of becoming vegetarian. Others, called pesce-pollotarians, eat both fish and chicken. Some do this for ethics, others do it for health. However there are people, like me, who just choose to eat chicken and turkey.
I decided to do this as a push to become more healthy, first of all. Beef and red meat do have iron and al of that good stuff. However, I wanted to get more vegetables in my diet becaus those are important things to have. Ever since then, I've noticed a big change in my eating habits. I am eating more salads, and other vegetables. I also decided this because I really don't feel comfortable eating something that was a mammal. I thought that it was unethical because we're mammals, and it feels wierd eating a mammal.
Ever since December, I have lost over 6 pounds. I feel a bit more healthier. However, I have a hard time getting my daily amount of nutrients, so I often eat a lot of spinach and other leafy vegetables. Some other sneaky ways to get protien are greek yogurt, and nuts. I also don't eat as much white bread, and have been subsituting it with rye or wheat bread. I also have been eating a lot of protien bars, such as balance bars and Special K, because they have about 30% of my daily value of iron. It's hard trying to get every nutrient that you need, so sometimes supplements may be neccesary.
Are you a vegetarian, pollotarian, or semi-vegetarian?
