Ways To Be Your Own Valentine

Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and if you're a lot like me, then chances are you don't have a Valentine. Well, instead of moping around, here's a crazy thought. Why don't you be your own Valentine? After all, the best kind of love that one can have is the self-love. Here's some fun ways to be your own Valentine this Valentine's Day.
  1. Treat yourself. Whether it's getting yourself a new book to buying yourself a ring that you've been eyeing you deserve to treat yourself to something nice. After all, who needs to spend your entire paycheck on a boy who may or may not be there tomorrow, when you can buy yourself that ring on Etsy that you've been eyeing for months?
  2. Watch a movie. It's so cliche to be bitter and single about not having a significant other, that it's easy to just sit back and cry about what it's like to not have a significant other. However, I don't know about you all, but when was the last time you've just sat and watched a movie? Or, a TV show? Treat yourself to some Netflix, or some fun DVDs at the library.
  3. Take a bath, or do something else just for relaxation. It's important to treat yourself to some R and R. Baths not only relax you but just make you feel refreshed and renewed. And, that's important, right?
  4. Eat a cupcake. Valentine's Day has the best desserts. So, eat a heart-shaped cookie or enjoy a cupcake sprinkled pink. Every now and then you just need to splurge. Just because a guy isn't buying you chocolate covered strawberries, doesn't mean that you can't buy them for yourself?
Overall, Valentine's Day is just another day of the week. Sure, it's hard to be single when there's thousands of statuses about how much someone loves their significant other, because it can seem like everyone is in a relationship. However, being single is okay too. Valentine's Day isn't for the couples in the world, and singles can celebrate it too.

Loving Yourself.

Source
Valentine's Day is almost here. There's talk of love everywhere. Do you love your boyfriend? Dog? Well, what about you? You're important, after all and you really need to make sure that you're taken care of.
We as a society sometimes forget that and provoke that mindset. Well, I am a huge fan of treating myself because I think that everyone needs to feel loved. Valentine's Day is all about love. That means going out to buy your boyfriend some sort of gift, yes I agree with that. However, that also should mean going out and buying yourself something.
And for all of you single gals out there, you for sure don't need a boyfriend. Go treat yourself to something tomorrow, because you're an excellent person. Whether it's candy, a sparkling new bauble, or something else go out and buy something that makes you happy.
The relationship that I myself that I need to work on is the one that I have with myself. I need to love myself more because let's face it, I've been way too hard on myself especially as of late. I have insecurities up to wazoo, and doubt and worry like it's my third job. I believe that it's something that I could work on. I have so far, with constant journaling, and using the book 'The Happiness Project.' Putting yourself first isn't selfish, even though sometimes people may think that it is. I have dealt with pressure from society  about my weight, my way of life, my relationship status, and even what I choose to do for a living. There are people in this world that could make you feel like you're not worth anything, and that is complete bull.
Even though it's a total cliche, let me say this. Put yourself first. Love yourself. Love others. Tomorrow is the day of love, so love you.

Last Minute Gift Ideas

So, Valentine's Day is well tomorrow, and you didn't get your significant other some sort of gift to show how much you love them. Oops. Well, have no fear! Here's some ideas for the men to get their ladies (and vice versa!) And yes, let's keep it a secret that you almost forgot about Valentine's Day.

  • This idea is totally perfect for both sexes. Making a mix tape, or a CD with some of your favorite love songs. (Need some ideas? Here's my faves) Or put some songs that you probably talked about with that other person, or has some meaning for the two of you. This is perhaps one of my signature gifts for people because I believe that music is one of the best gifts ever. I put a lot of thought in my CDs, so therefore if you're trying to impress someone with your music skills, give this a shot.
  • For the gentlemen out there, you should give your women Alex and Ani! It's perfect, because they have a lot of meaning behind the bracelet. If you're stuck on what to get your girl, consider the Skeleton Key one. (You know cause you hold the key to my heart kind of thing.)
  • On the subject of jewelry, basically getting anything heart shaped on some kind of metal is always a thumbs up. A personal idea of something I would love is a locket with a picture of the two of you. How romantic!
  • A movie with a coupon for a movie night. I don't know why, but this screams romance for me.

  • Candy. Cupcakes. Cookies. Yeah, anything sweet would apply. I've heard that the way to a person's heart is their stomach. That's kind of true, especially with me, cause I love food. Brownie points if you made it for them yourself.
  • Last but certainly not least, is to channel your inner Shakespeare by writing a poem for them. That's the way to woo your sweetheart fo shure.
There, now go hit the mall, your computer, your oven, whatever. You got this.
