The Story of a Relationship

Note:  The following poem is an original poem written by me.

Begin.
It was an early crisp fall day.
Some say that January 1st is the day of new beginnings.
I think that the new school year is a time of tabula rasa.
You sat right next to me.
One day, you said hi.
I wondered if you were always sitting there.
Or, were you something that I noticed now that the surroundings have become familiar?
I didn’t know that by a simple breath, a simple hello.
That I didn’t want to ever say good-bye to you.

Will you ask me?
Will you ask me to be your girlfriend?
Will you ask me to the movies, where who knows what happens in the dark?
Will you do more than gaze at me and never let your feelings known?
What are we?
Are we more than friends?
You smell awfully nice for me to be just a friend.
You paid for my ticket.
What the hell is going to happen next?

The day after December.
I went to your house.
My friend drove me.
Your friend liked her.
For the first time, I thought that maybe this could be something.
I wondered what was going to happen next as you hugged me goodbye.
And comforted me later, as I cried.
You were something.

You suddenly began slipping away.
It was gradual.
I started to notice.
I wondered if it was because of me.
Or was it because of the ghost that haunts your closet.
The demons were too strong for me to compete.
So I took a step back.
Noticed how much you truly were eclipsed with a sea of darkness.
I wanted to be your superhero.
I wished I could take it all away.
However, the battle was meant for you to fight.
I didn’t know when to run.
All of the signals were there.
Yet, I was too stupid to ignore them.
It took one sentence to change my mind about you.
Someone who I thought was good and pure.
Someone who I thought would always have something nice to say.

I didn’t want to think about you.
It hurt that I choose someone who wasn’t you.
It felt like I wasn’t good enough for someone perfect.
I wondered would I ever find that complete perfection?
Or would it be something that I would look at through a glass?
I didn’t know if I ever would achieve that.

I avoided you.
I avoided thinking about you.
If I saw you, I would run away.
That got old.
So, one day I approached you.
I faced my fear head on.

I then wondered what I saw in you.
I look back and feel like that was a lifetime ago.
I managed to come back from you, forever realizing that you are vanilla.
Yes you were perfect.
But your perfection was a result of striving to be perfect.
I will no longer be haunted by your memory.
And, I am now over the blue eyes I once thought were attractive.
Our story is over.
But my own is still happening.

Fictional Friday-The Claddaugh

The Claddaugh
Tiny little silver hands hold a silver heart that's as cold as you.
It's crown points away from you, signaling that I am looking for love.
If it points at you, it means I'm yours.
You only had one job.

You were supposed to make the crown point to your heart.
But you didn't, so the crown points towards me.
It reminds me that you and I were never in sync.
Friendship means the crown, but my heart wanted you.
We were the crown, and not the heart.

I should have saw the signs,
I should have took friends, as just friends.
You didn't string me along; you were being honest.
Only I was too deaf to listen.
You're not going to find me and tell me I'm the one.
Stupid romantic comedies have clouded my hearing.

The crown points towards me,
Reminding me that I'm looking for love.
With someone who will turn the crown to face him,
reminding me that I am in fact royality.

#TBT "Let's Hear it"

The following is a poem I've written about some of my friends! All work and photographs are my own.

1.
Let’s sit on a silver metal table,
Where pop music plays from the speakers above us.
Cary Rae Jepson asks some boy to call her maybe,
One Direction says that you don’t know you’re beautiful.
We’re eating Fro Yo from pink and yellow cups.
In between bites,
We share advice about boys, and life.
I noticed that her accent is slowly becoming American.
2.
He picks me up in his tic-tac green mini van.
His hair is purple, and he’s wearing funky sunglasses.
Nirvana’s blasting from the radio,
He’s slowly growing to like grunge.
We pick up his little sister,
Who is slowly becoming like my own.
Where does this road to nowhere lead to?
It leads to Starbucks,
“NQ I need my coffee”, he said.
It leads to parks,
“NQ, I want to go somewhere pretty”, he said, his eyes begging like a puppy.
And it leads to long scenic walks in random places.
“NQ, let’s go for a walk”, he says jumping up and down.
Yes, he had too much coffee.
On those walks,
We talk about life, the future, and just about everything else.
3.
When he ditches the green backpack,
And escapes the crowded hallways of high school,
He’s a different person.
The adventurous person in front of me is
Totally different then the quiet person who always has his nose in a book.
Whether it was exploring the unknown,
Discovering the river,
Or when he puts me his back, as if I weighed as much as that backpack.
During that time,
The summer between my senior year of high school,
And my freshman year in college
You would listen to me,
Even when I think no one else was.
4.
“Go team!” we’d cheer from the sidelines.
We’d talk about that hot guy in my math class,
And the guy in your EDU class.
Swoosh!
Bobcats win!
Peca scored the winning goal!
Boomer the Bobcat dances all around to the music that the pep band plays,
Blue and gold pride,
Bobcats won yet again!
5.
Let’s hear it for the good times,
When I would eat fro yo, with Alessia whose now back in Italy.
When I would drive around aimlessly with Gabriel, whose now in Saint Paul.
When I went to QU with Elisia whose now at QU.
When I would walk the Canal Trail with Griffin, who doesn’t know where he’s going .

Last Minute Gift Ideas

So, Valentine's Day is well tomorrow, and you didn't get your significant other some sort of gift to show how much you love them. Oops. Well, have no fear! Here's some ideas for the men to get their ladies (and vice versa!) And yes, let's keep it a secret that you almost forgot about Valentine's Day.

  • This idea is totally perfect for both sexes. Making a mix tape, or a CD with some of your favorite love songs. (Need some ideas? Here's my faves) Or put some songs that you probably talked about with that other person, or has some meaning for the two of you. This is perhaps one of my signature gifts for people because I believe that music is one of the best gifts ever. I put a lot of thought in my CDs, so therefore if you're trying to impress someone with your music skills, give this a shot.
  • For the gentlemen out there, you should give your women Alex and Ani! It's perfect, because they have a lot of meaning behind the bracelet. If you're stuck on what to get your girl, consider the Skeleton Key one. (You know cause you hold the key to my heart kind of thing.)
  • On the subject of jewelry, basically getting anything heart shaped on some kind of metal is always a thumbs up. A personal idea of something I would love is a locket with a picture of the two of you. How romantic!
  • A movie with a coupon for a movie night. I don't know why, but this screams romance for me.

  • Candy. Cupcakes. Cookies. Yeah, anything sweet would apply. I've heard that the way to a person's heart is their stomach. That's kind of true, especially with me, cause I love food. Brownie points if you made it for them yourself.
  • Last but certainly not least, is to channel your inner Shakespeare by writing a poem for them. That's the way to woo your sweetheart fo shure.
There, now go hit the mall, your computer, your oven, whatever. You got this.

Guns don't kill people.

Guns don't kill people,
people kill people.
Many people believe this concept,
But I believe it's not true.
They took 26 lives one December day.
26 lives who were innocent, and had bright futures.
All gone at the shot of a gun.

Guns are the cause of many deaths a year,
Someone take the guns away from the hands of evil.
Take the guns away from the hands of hard souls.
Subsitute love with hate,
It's not too late.
Let's make a difference for a brighter tomorrow.
So our kids won't share our sorrow.

Libary Longings.

Shall I compare thee to a summer day,
He tells me with the dusty book wide open.
We stood together in a crowded library,
He's decided to woo me with the sweet words of dead poets.
His gaze every lasting,
His eyes never leaving mine,
They seem to scream to me 'i like you, i like you!'
I wondered if mine were screaming as well.
My lips crave the taste of his,
The taste of his lips.
Then it feels like time has frozen,
We have no words left to say.
So we let our actions speak for us.
Surrounded by the many love stories, young and old around us.
Shall I compare this to a winter's day?
This chilly feeling in my veins
Makes me want this moment to last forever.

Hey guys, so I have to write a poem for my English class. Is this good?
