I believe that the most toxic thing in the world is to hold onto someone or something that hurt you years ago into the present day. I think that's important because otherwise it bleeds into your present day well-being and relationships.
Yes someone hurt you. They broke your heart, stomped on it, and as you attempt to pick up the pieces, they just stand there and laugh. They are the reason why you developed those giant walls that Humpty Dumpty would die falling off of. They are the reason why you won't stick your head out of the bushes and join the party.
But, hello. Newsflash. There's a thousand and one idiots out there who break heart so well that they can do it for a living. It's nothing to them. They are everywhere, from high school cafeteria, school campuses, and street corners. However, we have to realize that  there's more to a relationships than just the professional heart-breaker.
So, that's when we learn to let it go. Let the pain that we once felt live in one place-the past. That's where it belongs. By holding onto it, you are letting it affect your present. You're also doing one thing. You're letting them win. Yeah, you don't want to do that. So, let it go like a bunch of balloons that are bunched up and tied together, headed for the sky. Be happy, because you deserve to be. The fact that you've suffered heartbreak is the proof that you deserve it more than you think.
So my take home message? Someone broke your heart yes. But don't let them affect you now when they are already on to the next one. Chances are they may or may not be a professional heartbreak like the jerk that broke your heart.

A year ago, if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I would look you straight in the eye and say that I wanted to be a psychiatrist. I was a double major, and nothing could stop me. However, with psychology there was always some sort of limitations. Sometimes, the shoes didn't fit too right. Either they were too big, or they just weren't comfortable. I was invincible, and nothing could stop me.
Six months in my psychology career, something didn't fit right. I never had the feeling of this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. You know, the Eureka moment when the light bulb goes on in your head. During that time, I joined my school's paper. It was there when I had my aha moment. Whenever I wrote, the words came easy. Whenever I left my journalism class, I had the feeling of that's what I wanted to do with my life. Write interesting stories that gets people to think. Not sitting in an office telling patients what they should do to alleviate their depression.
I knew something was wrong, so I decided that it was time to drop psychology completely. I don't regret that decision because I know that I am truly happier with what I choose. Yes, I didn't complete my psychology program. But, if you have a problem with that, too bad because that's my decision.
Honestly, since I filled out the paperwork to become an English major again, I have no regrets. I feel less stressed out, and I worry about being perfect a little less. The shoe finally fits me like a glove, and it makes me happy to know that I am doing something that makes me happy. And yes, in case you're wondering, I am having my aha moments.

Do you do your homework? Everyday, cause if you don't in college you're screwed.

Are you friends with any cheerleaders?:My cousin's a cheerleader? But yeah, I am.

What was the last picture you took? A picture of the tree outside my house. 

Is your computer slow right now?: Always. 

What’s the best thing about your mom?: Hm, other than the fact that she's probably the most independent person that I know, in addition to being the best mom ever, I've got nothing. 

Have you seen your best friend naked?: Of course, who hasn't? (I'm being sarcastic.) 

Have you ever been in the hospital?: Yes.

Would you date someone that none of your friends like?: Yeah, because at the end of the day it's my decision who I date, not theirs. 

Does your phone have to be charged every day? Not really, but I'm weird and wasteful so yes.

When is the last time you held hands with someone? Right before Gabriel left. 

If you woke up as the opposite gender, what’s the 1st thing you would do? Be very confused. 

Who did you last hug? Gabriel when he left.  

Have you ever crawled through a window? Duh, that's what all of the cool kids do nowadays. Just kidding I'm not that awesome.

What career would you wish to be in? Writer is where it's at, yo.

When were you last on your phone? About an hour ago talking to my homeboy Gabriel. 

What were the shoes you wore today? My fake UGGs with buttons. 

Do you like math? Nope, we are mortal enimies. 

Are you currently in a relationship? Maybe I am..maybe I am not. You can be the judge of that.

Where do you want to go to college? Since I go to college, I don't see the point of this question. 

TGBL; "This Is For My Girls All Around the World"

This week's Girl Between the Lines post was a wildcard, and write about pretty much anything. So, I chose to write about something that I thought that is important at least in my eyes. Most of my blog is solely my opinion, and trying to cross personal lines. This piece, although its not about my love life, is something alongs those lines.

I feel like so many people can pull us in different directions. Instead of talking to us, they talk at us. This is something that I feel like happens to me all of the time. I have friends who sometimes are pushy with their beliefs, and think just because they do something that they are right with doing it. Although it may be right for them, it's not what I want. Sometimes, I often feel like although they are expressing their opinions which they are entitled too,  it comes to the point where in some ways they come off as being their way or the high way. 

I do like to listen to several people, and their opinions. I don't mind hearing what they have to say, because every one has something to say. However, I also think that you need to respect others for having an opinion, which is something that I try to do. But, I think that this motto has two sides to this street. In my opinion, I feel like everyone should have to respect everyone, and no one should feel like they have to explain themselves.

I have learned over the past few years to mute those voices. Those voices can simply make you feel like your not good enough. Just because someone does something, does not mean that you have to do that too. I think that we often forget that, and feel inferior to those who do. An example of this is with one of my friends who shall not be named. I was talking about something that I was interested in doing, and she responded "well I would never do that!" That honestly made me feel upset because she made it look like she thought she was better then me. If I make a decision that makes me happy than I don't need anyone's approval other than my own. I do respect the way that your mind operates and that what I want to do isn't for you. But you don't have to make me feel bad about it in the process. That's just uncool.

The biggest part of growing up in my opinion is to take the wheel. No matter what you do people are going to have opinions. Some are going to be good, while others are not going to be so good. You can brush some off, but others dig deep and mess with you. There's going to be some people in this world that think that they are better than you. In addition to that, there's going to be some people who don't respect your rights and opinions. But, you have to be bigger than that. You have to learn when to put your headphones on and realize that you're doing it right. T.I says it best "you can't expect me to think like you, cause my life ain't like yours." Homeboy, I'm done talking.

Hey, so Emma from the World According to Emma nominated me for a Liebster award, which is for a blogger that has less than 200 followers. Since I only have 7, I am quite honored to be nominated, and thank you Emma very much!
She's given me some questions, which I will now answer here! Everyone should read her blog (in the starred section below, just cause it's awesome!

1. What inspired you to start a blog?

I was inspired to start a blog after watching the movie Julie and Julie (2009). I always loved writing, and I wanted to create a sense of community with my blogging. In the past four years that I've been a blogger, I felt like the quality of my writing has improved, in addition to the audience that I created. I hope that between Notations, and Finding My Voice, I have anyways. 

2. What other bloggers do you look up to?

I love up to my blogging big, Cassi, in addition to Rachel, and Hayley.

3. What is your favorite thing to write about on your blog?

I love to write a bunch of things about my blog! I like to write about my current angst of what I'm feeling about something. I also love to write music reviews about songs and musicians that I really like. 

4. If you could trade places with any actress who would you trade places with?

Emma Stone, because she's my fave, and she's kissed Ryan Gosling several times. 

5. What would you consider the theme song of your life? 

That's a good one! It depends. I would honestly like to say "Sweet Emotion", by Aerosmith, because whenever I listen to that song, I feel like a badass. Since I consider myself to be one, therefore, why not? Also, I do like the song "Off To The Races" by Lana Del Rey, because I'm crazy and good luck to some guy trying to tame me. 

6. (Totally stealing this one from Taryn but the question is just too great) What are your long, mid and short term goals for your blog?

All of those can be answered in the fact that I just want my blog to be awesome. To me, I can be writing to no one, and it wouldn't matter. I want to present content that truly reflects on who I am as a person, and ultimately as a writer. I try to avoid swearing, because I know that people in the future can read this. I view my blog as a stepping stone to when I write an actual colum in a paper. Which is my long term goal. 

6. If you could be ANYTHING in the world, you knew you wouldn't fail at it what would you be?

I think I would be a dancer or a singer, because I am really into music and dance, as well as writing. 

7. What is your favorite thing to write about on your blog?

I think I answered this question before! 

8. If you could drop everything write now and go on vacation, money doesn't matter where would you go and why?

I would go to Italy. One of my best friends lives there, and I miss that girl like crazy. I also really want to go there, because my family is from there, and I'm in love with Italian culture and language. 

9. What is one item on bucket list that you really want to accomplish?

I'd say make Dean's List. I really work hard for school, and I really want to make that 3.5 cut sometime in my college career. 

10. What is one of your biggest pet peeves?

I'm not sure if it's a pet peeve, but I must say that I hate eggs, and I hate it when people eat them around me. 

11. Who is your celebrity crush?

Luke Bryan. Please shake it for me.

American Hustle Review

I've been dying to see this movie for a couple of months now. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see this movie until this past weekend. And boy, was it worth the wait. This movie is nominated for ten Academy Award nominations, so you have to think that it's pretty good.
The film is about Irving Rosenfeld (played by Christian Bale), who is a con artist. By 1978, he and his mistress Sidney Prosseler (played by Amy Adams) have gotten the art of conning people down pact. They are a well matched couple, Sidney aiding the scams by posing as British Edith Greensley. However, the pair can't be together because Irving's wife, Rosalyn (played by Jennifer Lawrence) wouldn't divorce him, and uses their son Danny as a pawn to keep her husband.
The pair get caught by FBI agent Richard DiMasso (played by Bradley Cooper). However they are offered a deal to help catch four criminals, in exchange for freedom. The pair agrees. They try to hurt the New Jersey mayor of Camden, in addition to other politicians by accusing them of accepting illegal funding. In the mean time, DiMasso is interested in Sidney, which creates a love triangle between them and Irv.
I'm not going to say any more about the movie, because I want you all to see it. I loved this movie a lot because it's different. It keeps you on your toes from beginning to end. The acting was done quite well, and I have to say that the costumes were also very well done. I actually got the feel of the seventies from watching this movie.
I will however, like to warn you all with sensitive ears. This movie has a lot of swearing, so I don't recommend to people that are not too into the whole swearing thing. There's some, but not much, nudity and sex scenes, as well.
Overall? If you're looking for a good movie to see, I would recommend you guys to see it. 

Music Monday [Special Sunday Edition]-Superbowl Playlist

Hey so it's the Superbowl. Let me tell you that I'm not going to be the one cheering on the teams to victory. I'm more of eating all of the munchies that I can stuff my face with, in addition to the commercials and the half time show. However, I think that part of every game being a former athlete needs to have some awesome music to motivate you.
